About the trail
This cycling tour passes through a network of villages and castles between Canelli and the Asti hills. The vineyards and hazelnut groves accompany a moving route, in which each ascent leads to a new town and a different view of the landscape.
What to look out for
From Belbo you go up, passing near San Giovanni delle Conche, to San Marzano Oliveto and then to Moasca. Agliano Terme precedes the section through Vallumida and Madonnina towards Costigliole d’Asti. Further ups and downs lead to Castagnole delle Lanze, before the descent towards the railway and Boglietto. The next climb returns between the vineyards of the Calosso territory: the village requires a detour. The main loop instead continues towards Sant’Antonio and closes the loop at Canelli.

Start and practical details
Departure and return are at Canelli, on a road itinerary with numerous climbs. The approach to San Marzano Oliveto reaches gradients of 8–9%; between Castagnole delle Lanze and Boglietto you travel along a busy provincial road. Visits to wineries and castles require separate organization from cycling.
