About the trail
The Romanesque Road in Alto Astigiano connects isolated churches, villages and cultivated hills by bicycle. The common thread is medieval architecture: small parish churches on the hills and monumental complexes become possible stops along an itinerary full of climbs.
What to look out for
From Cocconato you cycle towards Montechiaro d’Asti, where you can add detours for Piesenzana and San Nazario e Celso. The route continues through Soglio and Cortazzone, reaching San Secondo on the hill of Mongiglietto. Montafia and San Martino precede Colle Don Bosco and Castelnuovo Don Bosco. The climb towards Albugnano leads to the descent to Abbazia di Vezzolano, one of the references of the tour. The return passes in the area of Masio and Aramengo before the final climb to Cocconato.

Start and practical details
This cycling circuit starts in Cocconato, mainly following roads with an unpaved section towards Aramengo. The route includes steep climbs and stretches on the SS458. Allow extra time for detours and church visits, and distinguish these additions from the main route when planning the day.
