Carpeneto (Carpnèj in Piedmont ) is an Italian town of 855 inhabitants of the province of Alessandria, in Piemonte , located in Alto Monferrato, on a ridge between the Orba stream and the Bormida river. It is one of the municipalities of Ovadese, historical-cultural area of Lower Piedmont and Monferrato, which takes its name from the city of Ovada .
