Description of the route

From Grazzano Badoglio to Sezzadio the second half-stage extends 47.7 kilometres, but has only 127 meters of positive difference in altitude. It is therefore a long and flowing day, in which the descent from the hills towards the plain clearly changes the quality of the ride. After visiting the places of Aleramo, the route heads south again and crosses a more open agricultural landscape, keeping the abbey of Santa Giustina as a reference.

After leaving Grazzano, the road extends towards Altavilla Monferrato. Here vineyards and hilly horizons accompany a first part still linked to the identity of the Lower Monferrato. The presence of companies and points of food and wine interest along the route invites us to interpret the semi-stage as a journey through the territory, not as a simple transfer. With over 97 percent of the route classified as road by the official source, the continuity of the surface favors a constant pace.

Continuing towards Oviglio, the slopes become less and less steep and the panorama acquires the typical breadth of the Alexandrian plain. It is a stretch suitable for finding your own rhythm, but the overall distance suggests planning a stop anyway and not neglecting water and food. Crossing inhabited centers requires attention to local traffic and changes in direction, for which the map and GPX remain the safest reference.

The arrival at Sezzadio is dominated by the call of the Abbey of Santa Giustina, a Benedictine complex that offers the stage a monumental finale. Sezzadio is also the town around which legend places the birth and youth of Aleramo: the conclusion is therefore not accidental, but closes the first great chapter of the journey. The six-day formula allows you to stop, visit and calmly prepare the next semi-stage between Cassine, Ricaldone, Strevi and Acqui Terme.
