History of Olmo Gentile
SymbolsExplore this chapter
The name of the country seems to derive from that of the Ulmus tree which, in the past, was planted near sacred places as a sign of protection and blessing.
The first traces of the country are already found from 1142, year in which the country appears in a testamentary writing; hand past[4], later, many times becoming a possession first of the Scarampi family and then of the Del Carretto family and, finally, of the House of Savoy.
During the War of succession in Mantua and Monferrato it was subject to siege by Spanish troops.[5]
Symbols
The coat of arms of the Municipality of Olmo Gentile was granted by decree of the President of the Republic of 28 March 2007.[6]
The gonfalone is a yellow drape with the edge of red.
