About the trail

The Monferrato Gravel Traverse crosses a large territory, from the plains of Po to the vineyard hills of Astigiano and Alessandria. It is a journey to be built at your own pace, in which the long continuity of the dirt roads counts as much as the climbs and the distances between one area and another.

What to look out for

The trail unites the provinces of Alessandria and Asti through a succession of rural environments. The alluvial plains of Po are followed by the vineyards linked to Barbera and Grignolino, then those of Ruchè and the lands of Moscato of Asti. The landscape also includes meadows, pastures and woods: the character of the journey arises precisely from this alternation. Over 250 kilometers extend along sheep tracks, dirt roads and grassy stretches. You can tackle the crossing as a continuous experience or spread the distance over several days, taking into account your parking needs.
