About the trail
The Barbera Monferrato Superiore tour covers 77 km of climbs and descents from Casale, between stone-built villages and vine-covered slopes.
What to look out for
San Giorgio and Rosignano precede Cella Monte, approached through vineyards. Valle Ghenza leads to Moleto and San Michele on its grassy knoll, then Ottiglio and Olivola. Frassinello and Vignale introduce Cuccaro and Lu; the return passes San Maurizio di Conzano and Terruggia. Canale Lanza accompanies the final entry into Casale.

Start and practical details
Start at Castello dei Paleologi. Trekking or mountain bike for asphalt and dirt; via Fratelli Sosso begins with a very steep gradient. Salita Sant’Anna is an alternative but remains demanding; the return crosses SP31.
