Cisterna d'Asti (Sisterna in Piedmont) is an Italian municipality of 1 211 inhabitants of the province of Asti, on the border with the province of Cuneo . The municipality of Cisterna d'Asti is characterized by a hilly territory, covered by forests and vineyards. It is a typical example of ancient village, once cited by walls and natural escarpments and dominated by two building complexes: the castle and the parish church. The medieval castle dates back to the 11th century or 12th century; the cistern that holds inside gives its name to the local place.
