Silvano d'Orba ( Silvan in Piedmont , Scirvan in Liguria , Sirvòu locally) is an Italian municipality of 1 828 inhabitants of the province Alessandria , in Piemonte , located between the beginning of the Po Valley and the first hills of the Upper Monferrato . It is one of the main municipalities of Ovadese, historical and cultural area of Basso Piemonte and the Monferrato, which takes its name from the city of Ovada . Situated near the confluence of the stream Piota in the Orba river, the village is surrounded by vineyards that produce excellent D.O.C wines. such as the Dolcetto of Ovada and Barbera dell'Alto Monferrato, not far away Gavi.
