Nizza Monferrato→Rocchetta Tanaro

Description of the route

From the Foro Boario of Nizza Monferrato you cross the center and head towards the hills. After an initial sequence of ups and downs, Strada Sernella runs along the ridge between two valleys and leads to the small center of Noche, offering a panoramic and smooth stretch.

After crossing the road to Vaglio Serra, continue through the vineyards to the Vinchio Vaglio winery. The direction becomes that of Vinchio; at the entrance to the town a quick sequence of turns leads onto via Belveglio and then onto a pleasant path in the woods.

The path reaches Belveglio near a picnic area. After passing the town and the provincial road, some asphalted hairpin bends go up towards the hamlet of Asinara. Just before the town, you leave the road for a long, gentle and continuous descent between the rows.

The Tanaro progressively reappears at the bottom of the valley. The descent ends at Rocchetta Tanaro, in Piazza Antonio Piacentino. The stage does not present extreme passages, but frequently alternates open ridges, woods and vineyards: a route suitable for calmly observing the change in the landscape between Nice and the river valley.
