The institution grouped 19 municipalities[1] from the province of Alessandria in the southeast of Piemonte. In 2010 it was united to the mountain community Valle Borbera and Valle Spinti to form the new Mountain community Lands of Giarolo[2].
It was located in a hilly area formed by Val Curone, the Grue Valley and the Ossona Valley, which closes in Mount Giarolo (1.473 m). It is land of great agricultural traditions and wineries. The highest point is Mount Chiappo (1,700 m).
The main aim was to promote the development of the area in safeguarding its own environmental and cultural heritage.
The seat of the mountain community was in San Sebastiano Curone.
