In the area it was extracted gold and in 1852 in locality Lavagnina, now submerged by the intruder, a metallurgical plant for the preparation of the ingots was built. The mines passed under the control of Societé Anonyme des Mines d'or du Gorzente based in Lyon, France. In 1913 the last mine was also exhausted.[1]The construction of the dam that had begun with the exhaustion of some mines was finished in 1887 for the upper lake, while for the lower lake the construction began in 1911 and ended in 1917. In dry periods there is a Lavagnina farmhouse and the metallurgical plant built in 1850.[2]
