History of Castelnuovo Bormida
SymbolsExplore this chapter
The Feudatari of Castelnuovo were the Adorno Genoese between the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries; then Porro, Zoppi, Sacco, Moscheni, Grasso, Grillo and Ferrari. The latter retained the title even when Monferrato passed to Vittorio Amedeo II of Savoy in 1708.
Symbols
The gonfalone is a truncated drape, high in red, with the crowned eagle of black surmounted by the inscription COMUNE DI, lower in white, to the open and windowed tower of the field, supported by the convex enrolment down CASTELNUOVO BORMIDA, with golden embroidery.
Before the adoption of the current coat of arms, the municipality used a shield with a golden tower founded on an grassy countryside, in blue field.[5]
