History of Giarole
SymbolsExplore this chapter
The first nucleus of the village of Giarole stood near the Grana stream, in the area between the current church of San Pietro and the local cemetery. From the 12th century, however, with the erection of the Sannazzaro castle, the houses were built more and more close to the fortification for security reasons.
Symbols
The coat of arms and gonfalone of the municipality of Giarole were granted by decree of the President of the Republic of 19 January 1976.[5] In the coat of arms, a golden cornucopia is depicted in the green field, filled with silver fruits, accompanied in the left canton of the head by a tower adorned to the Guelph, also of silver. The gonfalone is a drape party of white and yellow.
