Parish church

The foundation of the parish of Roatto dates back to 1661 and in three hundred and fifty years sixteen pastors succeeded. At that time the two communities of Roatto were separated and Maretto who shared the same pastor. In 1662, the parish church was built to replace a pre-existing church.
The present church was completely rebuilt at the end of the800. Dedicated to St. Michael and Saint Radegonda, the current parish church was built between 1888 and the 1890 and was consecrated 9 July 1891 by the bishop of Asti Giuseppe Ronco. The planner of the church was the engineer – to which is dedicated a street of the village - Camillo Riccio, owner of Palazzo Borello.
The new church stands on the area of the ancient (the main altar rises exactly in the same place), but is larger (7 meters in length, 1.50 in width). The bell tower was preserved, but the copper dome and balustrades were added to the windows of the bell-cell that alter its original character. Built in neo-renaissance style, the church appears of solid structure, dignified in shapes and decorations and harmonic proportions. The main altar for the simplicity of style in line with that of the church and the happy colour combination of white and green marbles, which were largely donated by Camillo Riccio himself.
