Ovada (Ovà [ər/ di) in) in Piedmont, Goâ [ˈ diw diː] or Oâ [ˈw diː] in Liguria ) is an Italian municipality of 10 935 inhabitants in the province of Ligure. Alessandria , in Piemonte . It is a commercial, wine and agricultural center located in the Upper Monferrato , area of about 30 000 inhabitants, called Ovadese, and one of the province's centres-areas as the seat of the hospital, the upper school centre and other services for citizens. Renowned for his wine, Dolcetto, Ovada in 2024 was the European Capital of Wine, along with Acqui Terme , Casale Monferrato and the hills of Sesia di Ghemme e Gattinara .
