Originally station, it was transformed into a stop on 29 November 2009[1].
At the end of the 1992/93 football championship, this small station became famous for the clashes between the fans of Sampdoria (directed in Brescia) and the fans of Milan (directed in Genoa): being far from provincial leaders as Alessandria and Pavia, the forces of order arrived in place with difficulty.[2]
In 2022, Rete Ferroviaria Italiana announced an important renovation of the station Pontecurone within the railway quadrupling project of the line Tortona-Voghera for the Terzo crossing between Genoa and Milan.[3]
