History of Castello di Annone
SymbolsExplore this chapter
The name comes from the Latin a nonum (to nine), because it was 9 Roman miles away from Asti. In the Middle Ages it became a notable strategic point of passage, so much so that the town became a flourishing center for merchants and financiers, maintaining its importance until 1644, when it was destroyed by Spanish attacks.
Severe damage was suffered by the territory of the municipality in November 1994 due to the overflow of the river Tanaro.
Symbols
The coat of arms of the Municipality of Castello di Annone was granted by decree of the President of the Republic of 29 January 2003.[4]
(D.P.R.) 29.01.2003 concession of arms and gonfalone)
The banner is a blue and white banner.
