History of Frassineto Po

During the Middle Ages Frassineto Po was under the bishops of Vercelli; these gave it to the rich Cane family that resided in Casale Monferrato. In 1187 the fiefdom was handed over to the monastery of Rivolta. It became part of the Marquisate of in 1355 Monferrato and then, in 1371, he fell under Milan. The Gonzaga obtained the fief in 1446.[4] The parish was part of the diocese of Milan until 1804, but later in 1806 it became part of the diocese of Casale. During the Second War of Independence, on 3 May 1859, 8 Frassineto soldiers died. Frassineto Po since 2003, at the initiative of editor Claudio Maria Messina and Senator Angelo Muzio, is a Book Village: a privileged showcase for books outside catalog, used and ancient and a place where, throughout the year, there is a busy calendar of appointments, meetings with authors, conferences, theatrical performances, art exhibitions or photography. The permanent residence of the Village is housed in the east wing of Palazzo Mossi, sumptuous and complex construction in neoclassical style, commissioned in 1812 by Archbishop Vincenzo Maria Mossi to the architect Agostino Vitoli di Spoleto. On February 16, 2008 the Booklet was opened in a former discotheque, the first book outlet (where to find books that are hardly available through traditional sales channels). In two floors of the historic building is set up the "Centro di Interpretazione del Landscape del Po", an innovative museum route wanted by the park of Po Vercellese/Alessandrino, in which the millenary history of the territory with multimedia exhibitors, video stations and scenography is opened.
Symbols
The coat of arms and gonfalone of the municipality of Frassineto Po were granted by decree of the President of the Republic of 9 May 1996.[5]
The gonfalone is a white drape with the edge of purple red.
