History of Solonghello
SymbolsExplore this chapter
Small town close to the hills of Monferrato, the first news related to the presence of a municipality date back to 1016, when some families rebelled against the church of Vercelli and reunited by making themselves called Soalingellum.
The historical events of the village are linked to those of the territory of Monferrato, subject to more or less hidden struggles for dominion over the territory and forced to suffer harassment from the French and the Spanish and then, after centuries, in 1713 with the Treaty of Utrecht, to become part of the Savoy duchy.
Symbols
The coat of arms and gonfalone of the municipality of Solonghello were granted by decree of the President of the Republic of 22 December 2010.[5]
The gonfalone is a white drape.

The ancient fortress was erected in the 12th century by a vassal of the Marquises of Monferrato.
He had several owners: the De Catena - De Gabiano, the Rivetta, the Della Sala, the Pezzana, the Corsino.
In the 1522 Some nobles of Casale were housed in the castle who fled from the plague infection that reaped many victims.
He suffered looting and devastation by Spagnoli and Alemanni in various occasions in the long wars centered on the citadel of Casale.
In the700 becomes the property of the Scarampi family Camino, then passed to the Calvi family of Bergolo, finally to Pietro Provera (whose daughter Ermelinda married Achille Lorenzon of Treviso; the two had a daughter, Teresita, who married Count Alfonso Gaetani D'Oriseo).
Currently it is owned by Pier Vittorio Crova (industrial in the goldsmith sector, owner of Bulgari Manufacture).
