About the trail
From Pieve San Giovanni to the sanctuary of Crea, this long itinerary crosses a succession of valleys and hills of Monferrato. It is a crossing in which parish churches, castles and small inhabited areas punctuate the landscape, until the final climb up the mountain of the sanctuary.
What to look out for
The valley towards Lu and Conzano prepares the climb near Camagna. The route passes through the Castello Lignano area, then descends to Cascina Nuova and continues towards Cascine Bellero. From Valle dei Frati the route climbs again near Ottiglio. After Spinosa Alta and Spinosa Bassa, cross the road and the Casale–Moncalvo railway to reach Salabue. The cemetery has a fountain; the houses of Forneglio precede the last stepped section towards Crea.

Start and practical details
The departure is at the bridge over Torrente Grana beyond Pieve San Giovanni, near Mirabello Monferrato; the indicated parking is in the parish church. It is 25.87 kilometres, about six hours, arriving at Crea: the return must be organised. The surface alternates roads and paths; near Salabue can get muddy after rain.
