About the trail

The first stage from Vignale Monferrato to Moleto connects villages, valley floors and cultivated ridges. Views change repeatedly along the way: settlements reappear across the hills, while small churches mark the approach to Ottiglio and the final village of the day.

What to look out for

Leaving piazza Mezzadra, the route climbs to piazza del Popolo before descending towards the countryside. It passes the former Fons Salera establishment and reaches Mongetto, with views towards Frassinello and Vignale. Beyond the Rotaldo stream, a climb leads into Olivola by the church of San Pietro. Prera comes before Ottiglio, where a short detour reaches San Germano. The ridge between the Ottiglio valley and Valle dei Frati then leads back towards Prera. The final section approaches Moleto and its Romanesque church of San Michele.
