About the trail
At Ozzano, the hilly landscape retains traces of the cement industry. This loop brings together chimneys, workers' houses and ancient mining infrastructures with the woods and panoramas of the Po plain, offering an unusual interpretation of the Monferrato countryside.
What to look out for
Via Fontanola passes next to the Milanese Azzi chimneys and the Unione Italiana Cementi plants, with remains of the narrow gauge railway. The workers' houses precede the Pozzone Cavallera, once connected to the underground levels of the mine. The climb into the woods reaches Sinaccio and the church of Santi Cosma e Damiano. The ridge leads to the tower of La Moncia and Rollini; after the valley, fields and hazelnut groves lead back towards Cascina Ranà and the fenced entrance to Laurenta.
