About the trail

The Sentiero di Papa Francesco links Portacomaro with the Bergoglio family’s origins through hamlets and countryside around the village.

What to look out for

San Rocco and Bricco Lumello precede the woodland towards Bricco Marmorito, where Pope Francis’s ancestors lived. The return passes Angrisano and strada Borlotto towards San Pietro. The fortified centre offers an additional village walk with San Bartolomeo, old walls and viewpoints.
