About the trail
The Via degli Innamorati climbs from the center of Canelli to the upper village along the Stërnìa, the cobbled street that intrigued Raymond Peynet. Among historic cellars and baroque churches, the walk reaches a terrace from which the view crosses the Monferrato towards the Langhe.
What to look out for
From Piazza Cavour you reach Piazza Amedeo d’Aosta and Casa Scarazzini. The route passes Cantine Bosca, Palazzo Giuliani and Cantina Contratto, then climbs towards San Tommaso. Stërnìa leads to San Giuseppe, where a staircase reaches the viewpoint below Castello Gancia. After the panorama, we continue towards Casa Prato and the churches of San Leonardo and San Rocco. The return goes down the cobbled street again, rejoining the initial stretch.
