About the trail

The Hazelnut Route tells of a crop that shapes the Castellero campaign. Murals in the town and panels along the way follow the cycle, while the loop passes from the valley floor to the ridges, alternating hazelnut groves, pastures and woods.

What to look out for

From the town hall you go down among the decorated houses to the San Rocco area. The Valporino valley introduces panels dedicated to harvesting, drying and pruning. After leaving the asphalt, the climb reaches a stretch of ridge next to the hazelnuts and then Bricco Trombetta. The return journey passes through the woods and other hazelnut plantations, with insights into the relationship between cultivation and environment. Near the cemetery, the Parco Braida offers tables and a fitness trail before going back to town.

Start and practical details

The loop starts from Piazza del Municipio: 6 kilometres, around two hours and 150 meters of climbing, on asphalt, dirt and grassy tracks. In the cemetery area the signs are lacking. Starting from the cemetery car parks shortens the tour by about 1.5 kilometres, excluding the murals in the centre.
