About the trail
A sequence of churches on the hills accompanies the journey from Castelnuovo Don Bosco to Abbazia di Vezzolano. The cultivated ridges and passages in the woods connect small secluded buildings to one of the most recognizable Romanesque complexes in Piedmont.
What to look out for
The church of Sant’Eusebio introduces a sharp climb to the ridge, with views towards Castelnuovo Don Bosco. Two short detours reach Santa Maria di Cornareto and San Michele Arcangelo, both in a panoramic position. Continuing between houses and hills, Vezzolano begins to appear in front. The final stretch descends and ascends through the woods before reaching the abbey. Inside, the sculpted rood screen that divides the nave and the frescoes in the cloister are elements to include in a visit, if accessible.

Start and practical details
We start at Sant’Eusebio on the SP16: 5.5 kilometers and about an hour and a half one way, on dirt road, path and asphalt. The return follows the same route. The ground can be very muddy after heavy rain; any return by bus from Albugnano requires updated timetables.
