About the trail
The Loop of the Hills starts from the porticoed streets of San Damiano d’Asti and goes up among vineyards and hazelnut groves. The walk combines the regular design of the historic center with the curves of the countryside, with the village of San Luigi as the main panoramic point.
What to look out for
The Church of Santi Cosma e Damiano introduces Corso Roma and Piazza della Libertà. From Piazza Camisola, the avenue on the ancient ramparts leads towards the exit from the town. Beyond Rio Borbore, crops and hazelnut trees accompany the climb to San Luigi, with views towards Govone and San Martino Alfieri. Continue on the ridges between vineyards, then descend through denser vegetation. The valley floor, marked by poplars, leads back to the bridge and the road already traveled on the outward journey.

Start and practical details
The departure is in Piazza Rossino. The loop measures 8.5 kilometres, approximately three hours, with 180 meters of climbing. It alternates between urban pavement, asphalt, dirt road and grassy tracks, including a staircase and a steep descent through the vineyards. After heavy rains, country sections can be muddy.
