About the trail
The Monferrato Grand Trail offers a reading of an entire territory on foot, crossing the provinces of Alessandria and Asti. Its size invites you to choose: follow the journey stage by stage or return several times, exploring the four loops that compose it separately.
What to look out for
The route connects 65 municipalities in 18 stages. The hills of Basso Monferrato and the steeper slopes of Alto Monferrato offer different environments, with woods, vineyards, castles and small towns. The four-loop structure allows you to tackle the journey in areas: each circuit is a distinct travel possibility, while the complete network makes visible the link between territories that are often explored separately.

Start and practical details
The trail forms a 382 km loop in 18 stages, starting in Casale Monferrato: stage 1 runs from piazza Castello to Cereseto. You can choose individual stages or shorter loops. Download the latest GPX track a few days before setting out, as waymarking is not yet complete. Arrange overnight stays and your return from the end of your chosen walk in advance.
