Teresio Ricci

Born in Predosa, in province of Alessandria, on 25 June 1919, he completed his studies in Novi Ligure and in Genoa until he obtained the master's degree. Called to military service follows the sub-official course in Pisa and is incorporated as a parachute.

On September 8, 1943 he was licensed in Predosa due to a war wound; he then joined a group of partisans, an experience that deeply marks him throughout his life, as a school of life and a place of learning the true values to be achieved by transmitting them to young people.

Immediately after the end of the war begins the activity of elementary teaching, winner of competition in Sardinia, in Iglesias, and therefore in province of Alessandria, until his definitive move to his town, where he soon became coordinator of the elementary school until his retirement in 1979, working among other things with the school authorities to establish a "Reading Center" for the benefit of schoolchildren and their families, the original nucleus of that municipal library founded subsequently in 1977.

Restful placement is the beginning of an extremely active intellectual otium, characterized by organic dedication to homeland history. The archive search leads him to deepen moments of the history of Predosa and to publish summary of divulging cut on various local periodicals. On the other hand, he is passionate about the history of the Predosino dialect, which studies especially from the etymological and comparative point of view not only with the nearby dialects and the Italian language, but also with elements of foreign languages. He also devoted himself to composing verses in vernacular: his texts, constantly sold by a nostalgic feeling of re-enactment and description of environments and feelings, often with intent of satire towards contemporary fashions and customs, are published by local publications (a weekly column on Il Piccolo, biettimanale di Alessandria) and are also reported and awarded in regional and national vernacular poetry competitions.

On the occasion of the centenary of birth, on May 22, 2019, the Municipality of Predosa, in agreement with the Municipality's Primary and Secondary School, unveiled a commemorative plaque in the town square, bearing some verses of a dialect poem by Ricci with an Italian translation opposite.
