Border zone of the territory of the municipality Alessandria, was considered part of the Gamondio neighborhood and followed the fate of the city until the 15th century.
He was occupied by Filippo Spinola and Luigi de Montagna Castro Pallavicini, on behalf of Guglielmo di Monferrato, in 1450, a monferrino outpost for raids into the territory of the Duchy of Milan, in order to damage the trade between Alessandria and Lombard capital. Assigned by Corrado da Fogliano, with the collaboration of the Genoese of Doge Pietro Campofregoso, the Spinola resisted bewildered in the predosino castle. The lack of expulsion of the village caused the support of the Genoese and was the beginning of the deterioration of the relations between the Republic of Genoa and the Duchy of Milan. Meanwhile, the Spinola, drawn with deceit to the Duke's court, disappeared in mysterious circumstances.
In 1454, with the peace of Venice, Predosa returned to become part of the Duchy of Milan. In 1470 he was infeuded to the Beccaria family, which kept him until 1591. At the death of Aureliano Beccaria was the subject of a judicial dispute between Milan, the daughter of Beccaria and the venerable Congregation of San Paolo Decollato di Pavia, appointed universal heir at the expense of his daughter.
Placed practically for sale, the village was purchased with regular contract by the Marquis Ludovico Guasco di Solero on 18 September 1619.
In 1707 he passed to the Savoy and since then followed the fortunes of the Sabaudo Kingdom.
Only in 1929 he acquired - from the Municipality of Alessandria - the hilly territories of Castelferro and Mantovana, and for compensation the plain one of Retorto.

The Golden Museum
The Golden Museum consists of two rooms in the premises made available by the municipal administration. In the first room are illustrated the primary aurifers of all Italy, in the second the alluvial deposits of Val Padana. The history of individual deposits is illustrated by documents, some dating back to the 17th century, from topographic maps, from mineral titles of the 19th and 20th centuries, from a bibliographic collection, from booklets, newspapers, photos and tools used by gold seekers. Golden specimens found in the Orba stream and aurifer minerals are also displayed, as well as gold scales and powders collected in different rivers.
Landscape Park of the Orba
Terre d'Orba painted by Cesare Viazzi, photographed b/n by Elisabetta Goggi, is the exhibition - set up in the Palazzo Comunale in July 2011 - that shows how this landscape, after more than a century, despite the development, has remained uncontaminated[4].
