Already in the middle of the 16th century it was well rooted in Spigno Monferrato, in the Villa Rocchetta area. He participated in the social life of Spigno, appearing in its municipal council for several generations (1665-1719).
Of the Viazzi family we know the Stemma, recorded in the 17th century coat of arms ST 388 Ancient Bonacina Collection:

A prominent figure was John the Baptist (1664-1743) lay prior of the Brotherhood of the Body of Our Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Rosary (from 1699 to 1710), Councilor of the Community of Spigno (from 1691 to 1719) on whose behalf he contests alleged rights of the Marquises Asinari of the Carretto on lands of the Community, boasted by Asinari as allodiali ab immemorable, therefore family members exempt from feudal rights.
After the passage of the Marquisate to Casa Savoia (1724) the family moved to Pezzolo Valle Uzzone, always in Sabaudo territory. I have to record[3] :Giuseppe (n. 1768), dragon of the Savoy Cavalry; Peter (n. 1774), surgeon doctor who in 1813 practiced the systematic anti-vaiolose vaccination on site at Cortemilia; Nicola (1806-1854), lieutenant of Cavalleria; Onorato (1812-1887) Director of Dazio in Novi and Alessandria; Titus Joseph (1816-1887), Major of Infantry, Silver Medal to Military Value to be among the first to move to the assault in the battle of San Martino (24 June 1859, Second Italian War of Independence).

In more recent times, the most prominent figure of the family was the painter Cesare Viazzi. His vast culture that spanned throughout the history of European figurative art, combined with the perfect pictorial technique refined in the Academies of Rome, Florence and Turin, allowed him to become a scholar and painter.
He was an eminent character in Genoa between the 19th and 20th centuries that he was urban renewal. He associates with the engineer Cesare Gamba and architects Dario Carbone and Luigi Rovelli. He taught at the Accademia Ligustica di Belle Arti and collaborated with the national government for the renewal of study plans in Academies.[4] He was a municipal councilman. Artistically he went through a true moment, then one of bourgeois painting, and finally a symbolist. When expressionism arrived he abandoned painting to dedicate himself to the study of the ancient masters and art criticism.

The painter Cesare Viazzi, of strict Mazzini principles, was particularly attentive to the education of children and his family was a meaningfully expressive core of the intellectual bourgeoisie:
- Tito (1894-1956) was also a painter of still life magically immersed in the enchanted silence that envelops him himself because of the deafness contracted to the first month of life;
- Giorgio (1900-1980), dentist, passionate and competent art collector;
- Bianca Maria (1904-1992), author of the Gozzanian style novelle published on third page of the newspapers of the time and collected posthumous;

- Carlo Alberto, lawyer, major of the Bersaglieri involved as an officer of complement in all military events of the troubled period 1915-1945, multi-decorated to the Military Value and Civil Merit, carried out, for the Colonial Government in AOI (Africa Orientale Italiana), a delicate service of mediation between local uses and Italian law and was protagonist of a confrontation that made epoch with the CITAO (Compagnia Italiana Trasporti Orientale[5].
The family nucleus of the Viazzi also belongs to journalist and writer Cesare Viazzi.
