Discovering Pietra Marazzi

Pietra Marazzi (The Prèja in Piedmont) is an Italian municipality of 859 inhabitants[1] from the province of Alessandria in the Piemonte.

The historical nucleus of the village extends over a hill close to the left bank of the river Tanaro. On three sides it is surrounded by Bricco di San Giovanni, Monte Mariano and Bricco Sant'Ilario. The hamlet of Pavone is part of the municipality, located on the southern border and to the left of the confluence of the Bormida river with the Tanaro river, on a hill 137 meters above sea level. In recent years, after the demographic decline of the first half of the 20th century, there has been a clear recovery in growth in the number of inhabitants, favored by the beautiful hilly position but at the same time located in the immediate vicinity of Alessandria, the natural landscape beauty and the good microclimate. This is how the old residential nucleus expanded onto the surrounding hills.

The headquarters of the municipality is in Piazza Umberto I.
