About the trail
In the Rocchetta Tanaro Natural Park the landscape can be read above all from up close: streams, ravines, trees and paths in the undergrowth. This loop descends towards the valley floor, goes up through the woods and searches for Grande Faggio, before returning to Casa Parco.
What to look out for
From the central car park, follow the indicated descent towards Rio Rabengo and the valley floor. A track follows the course of the stream, then a small bridge introduces the ascent into the woods. Having reached the ridge, the route touches the asphalt and crosses Sant’Emiliano, to then re-enter the trees. On the Nature Trail a detour ends at Grande Faggio: you have to retrace your steps to take the loop again. The final part reaches a dirt road again and goes up towards Casa Parco, which houses a hostel, a short distance from the initial car park.

Start and practical details
The central car park has tables and a fountain. This six-kilometre loop involves around 200 metres of ascent and two and a half hours of walking. Surfaces include footpaths, dirt tracks and asphalt. Some junctions lack signs, and parts become muddy after rain. The route is not suitable for pushchairs.

Your day on the trail
The source warns of difficult navigation and mud after rain. Short distance does not make this an easy walk.
Check the weather and any closure notices before setting out. Bring water and suitable equipment, follow signs and respect the places you visit.
