History of Isola Sant'Antonio

SymbolsExplore this chapter

The marshy area, consisting of small islands separated by canals, took its name from the conformation of the land and a chapel dedicated to the saint.

In 1545 the Marquis Isimbardi, feudal lords of the place, settled there farmers in a stable plant for the cultivation of fertile lands.

He was part of Lomellina until 1800, when for the first time Napoleon with a decree broke out the territory of Isola from the province of Lomellina and placed it in the municipality of Alluvioni Cambiò in the Department of Marengo. It became common in 1818, by decree of the king of Sardinia, who at the same time brought it back to Lomellina. The definitive transition to Piemonte was decreed in 1878.[5]

Symbols

The coat of arms and gonfalone of the municipality of Isola Sant'Antonio were granted by decree of the President of the Republic of 27 June 1983.[6]

"Troncato: in the first of red, to the golden lily; in the second, tiled of blue, at Sant'Antonio stationed on an island of green, accompanied on the left by a garden lily of a stele natural, flowered of four of the same, placed in pole and motive from the island. Exterior ornaments from the Municipality.»

The gonfalone is a truncated drape of blue and red.
