History of Alzano Scrivia
SymbolsExplore this chapter
The village was simply called Alzano until 1925. The family of the Torti from which it takes its name the neighboring village had in Alzano a "Fortified Castle", stood near the sixteenth-century parish, dedicated to Our Lady, was besieged and conquered by the Spaniards in the mid-18th century. There is no trace left of the manor: it was completely destroyed in 1824.
In the past also recent floods of rivers have repeatedly modified the nature of places. In the names of local municipalities, this connection often occurs, often conflicting with water; from Guazzora, the Latin Guadadarium, ad Alluvioni Cambiò, which in its toponym summarizes the history of the village rebuilt after a flood, Isola Sant'Antonio, today located on the mainland, but born around the middle of the sixteenth century in the middle of the Po oxbows. From 1928 to 1946 it was united with the nearby Molino dei Torti in a single town called Molino Alzano.
Symbols
The municipal gonfalone is a truncated drape of green and yellow.[6]
