History of Fabbrica Curone

SymbolsExplore this chapter

Territory subject to the jurisdiction of the Abbey of San Colombano di Bobbio[5], arose as a small urban complex around the ancient parish church. Equipped with a castle, it was subject to bishops of Tortona, following a papal bull in 1157.

High to the rank of imperial fief, it was attributed to Malaspina, who held it until its suppression (1797).

At the 1946 institutional referendum, 58.4% of local voters voted for monarchy and 41.5% for the Republic[6].

Symbols

The coat of arms and gonfalone of the commune of Fabbrica Curone were granted by decree of the President of the Republic of 19 October 1962.[7]

"Stemma trinciato, of red, to the three stars of six golden spikes; to the second to the silver tower of three guelph apples in blue field; to the blue band, loaded with silver nebula band. Exterior ornaments from Commune.[8]»

The gonfalone is a shredded drape of blue and red.

Pieve di Santa Maria Assunta. The ancient parish church is a Romanesque building, consisting of a central nave with a hut roof and two side aisles with simple ground roof. The entrance is decorated with a stone portal, surmounted by a bezel containing a Romanesque frieze. The protiro that enlivens the facade is a recent addition (XIX century).

In the hamlet of Lunassi a Museum of peasant civilization has recently been established, in which tools, tools, machinery, documents and objects are collected that demonstrate to the visitor the struggle for survival of a population attached to a poorly fertile land.

The hamlet of Caldirola (1,110 m asl) is a well-known ski resort with lifts.

Another fraction is Salogni (950 m a.s.l.) where the Maestro rio flows, surmounted by the chapel of Madonna della Cintura (original 16th century). From Salogni it is possible to reach altitude 1400 m through asphalt road and from here, along some paths, the mountains Chiappo (1699 m) and Ebro (1701 m). Always from Salogni via path no. 108 of the C.A.I. you can reach the Ezio Orsi refuge (m 1397) located at the foot of Mount Ebro (m 1701).
